In a programme sponsored by the European Commission and European Council, a Russian delegation visited the municipal police in Florence and Prato. In efforts to create the first local police force in Russia’s history, their aim is to adopt the Tuscan model for municipal and provincial police forces.  The Tuscan Region in collaboration with the Prefettura di Firenze has organised an initiative that highlights Tuscan training methods, and university sponsored professional development courses that prepare officers to deal effectively with immigrant populations and enhance the idea of a community-oriented police force.
