“When the Earth Realised It Lived in the Periphery” is the title of the newest initiative by the History of Science Museum of Florence. The museum is now offering evening tours led by “Galileo Galilei himself” (that is, an actor impersonating him).  Demonstrating with the actual tools used by Galileo that are housed in the museum, the guide explains how Galileo’s discoveries overturned the long-standing belief that the earth was the centre of the universe, and thus moved the planet to its peripheral location orbiting the sun.

The tours are offered every Thursday evening throughout the summer at 8 and 9.30pm.
