In an attempt to combat skyrocketing consumer prices, the president of commercial group Confcommercio, Sergiò Billé, has proposed a Pizza Pact that would stabilize the costs of pizza and beer in restaurants throughout Italy. Billé has proposed that a dinner of pizza, beer, and espresso should have a set cost of 7.50 euro. Although his proposal was accepted with enthusiasm by the president of the Pizza Restaurant Committee, Antonio Pace, it has not yet become official. The initiative is yet another attempt to quell fears of consumers and to stimulate spending.
