The historic San Lorenzo food market will be closing its doors from March 11 to 20 in an attempt to rid the area of its cat and pigeon infestation. Local health authorities recently ordered the market to shut down temporarily in order to take the necessary precautions to avert sanitary problems. The market has never actually been cleaned and retailers agreed that they would close up shop for a week to remove animals, wash and repair floors and generally spring clean.
