In addition to the already 800 beds available every day to the homeless population in the city of Florence, a project called ‘Acco-glienza invernale,’ run by Asp Fuligno, has made another 108 beds available to those without a fixed residential address. Presented by the city of Florence, and in collaboration with several associations offering social assistance in the city, the initiative will help those without roofs over their heads with both a day and a night shelter during the frigid winter months.

The project will run from Nov. 13 to March 31. Beds will be equipped with personal hygiene products and cleaning detergents for personal use. The service will also include two meals a day, breakfast and dinner. There are 80 beds available for men at the Ostello del Carmine, located on Via Piatellina, open every evening from 7pm to 10:30 pm. Women can go to the Albergo Popolare, located on Via del Leone, 35, where they will find 20 beds made available to them evenings from 7 to 10pm. Those seeking shelter during the day can go to the Centro Polifunzioanle ‘La Fenice,’ located on Via del Leone.

For more information about the program, or to book a bed for the win-ter please call 349 530 5424.
