Work has already begun on the efforts to re-asphalt the city streets that have been rundown from traffic over the years.
Overnight work began in via Faentina, considered one of the worst streets in the city for its tear and wear, and will soon move to lungarno Ferrucci and via Sestese, which will also receive a night-time overhaul.

A broken tube is the cause of the dramatic collapse of a stretch of Lungarno Torrigiani, adjacent to the Ponte Vecchio and across the Arno from the Uffizi.

This citywide project will also include lungarno Torrigiani, which suffered extensive damage last spring, when a portion collapsed following an underground pipe burst. The street will not be closed completely, as it was last year when undergoing renovations. Like most of the other areas being redressed, work will progress section by section along the street, limiting the disturbances to traffic and residents.
