The wearing of face protection becomes mandatory in Florence and Tuscany on Monday, April 20.

Masks must be worn indoors and outdoors, in places and spaces that are open to the public in the presence of several persons as well as when using public transportation, taxis and chauffeur services.

“As from tomorrow, everyone must wear a mask when they go outside since they help to avoid the risk of infection,” explains Mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella. “Please remember that it’s equally important to maintain the social distancing enforced by the national and regional legislation.”

Face protection is not mandatory for children under the age of six years and for persons who are unable to wear such devices due to documented psycho-physical conditions.

Masks have been distributed door to door to city residents. If you haven’t received yours or are a non-resident, fill in this form at this link: comune.fi.it/mascherine. Face protection devices are available for free from selected pharmacies and supermarkets throughout Tuscany; just show your national health card (tessera sanitaria).
