Sant’Ambrogio market is about to change look: new facilities, projecting roofs and lighting with a wide central corridor,” announced Dario Nardella, Mayor of Florence, on his Facebook and Twitter profiles.

The plans also include a new external loggia and the replacement of the old projecting roofs. More surface area will be given to the facilities, which will be modern but respectful of the existing building. The market stalls are expected to benefit from a better layout, hidden infrastructure, and energy-saving lights.

The price tag is 750,000 euro, financed by the City of Florence, and the renovation is slated to take 14 months, with work beginning in the autumn.
