The season has so far been disappointing for the ACF Fiorentina, with
the team gaining just 14 points in 16 games, and only 4 points from the
relegation zone. Away from home, the situation is pretty dramatic, with the
Fiorentina achieving no wins, just two draws and five defeats.

There are some young players who
seem promising investments as the big stars have yet to shine. In particular,
Serbian Nastasic at the back looks really impressive. The new goalkeeper Artur
Boruc is also performing well, as a replacement for Sebastian Frey who joined
Genoa last summer.

The problem for the Viola is the forwards and the injuries that have
benched its stars. Adrian Mutu, who joined Cesena in the summer after relations
soured with both management and fans, has not yet been replaced. This leaves
Alberto Gilardino somewhat isolated at the front. Without the support, he
hasn’t been scoring this season. Hopefully some good signings will strengthen
the squad in January, even if co-owner Andrea Della Valle doesn’t look too keen
to spend. New coach Delio Rossi also seems intent on bringing the team back to
winning.
