Four days of dance-offs, competitions, auditions, performances, free dance lessons and special guests from the world of dance are in store at the sixth annual Danza in Fiera trade fair, running from February 24 to 27 at the Fortezza da Basso.
The world’s largest trade fair dedicated to dance, this year’s Danza in Fiera boasts over 400 events in 14 pavilions spread over 65,000 square metres of exhibition space, including five stages and three dance rinks. Among the special events are Pilates workshops; the second annual Made in Cuba Festival, celebrating Caribbean beats; the Nomad Dance Fest, celebrating nomadic gipsy dance; and Dance the Flow, a journey through dance history.
Events will touch every genre of dance, from ballet to belly-dancing, hip-hop to samba, hit musicals on Broadway to cheerleading, and American country to Asian dance. Not to miss is the special retrospective, Burlesque Mania, and a performance by the Tuscany Arezzo Ballet inspired by the popular vampire saga Twilight.
During the fair, prominent dance companies from around Italy and abroad will hold auditions, and representatives from some of Italy’s most prestigious theatres will be present, among them the Arena di Verona, the Teatro San Carlo of Naples, the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino, the Teatro dell’ Opera of Rome, the Teatro Massimo of Palermo and the Teatro Petruzzelli of Bari.
