A recent study by the Censis research agency reveals that 47.3 percent of Italians considered the 110.50 euro RAI cable fee the tax they hated the most. Households with a television in Italy are obliged to pay the annual television licence fee, which accounts for half of state broadcaster RAI’s required funding, along with advertising and other sources of revenue. Other unpopular taxes according to Italians were: the road tax (14.5 percent), property tax ICI (12.7 percent) and the municipal garbage-collection and disposal tax (12.1 percent).
