A new international crowdfunding platform is raising funds exclusively to help preserve Italy’s cultural heritage. Called LoveItaly!, it is the effort of a Rome-based group to support restoration projects, create a community of donors, and share Italy’s cultural heritage with the world.

LoveItaly!’s first two projects are the restoration of a room in the Domus of the Centaur at Pompeii, dating to the second century BCE; and conservation of the Tiaso Marino, an important imperial-age sarcophagus in the National Gallery of Ancient Art at Palazzo Corsini in Rome.

An all-volunteer organization, LoveItaly! includes a committee of experts that helps to identify projects to sponsor and guide their execution. With a strong focus on accountability, the association develops direct relationships with public administrations that conduct the restorations and it monitors the projects.

LoveItaly! is a project of the  LVenture Group, a holding company listed on the Italian stock exchange that operates in venture capital and invests in  startups. ‘Through our investment activities in innovation, we have acquired a vast know-how in digital technologies,’ explains Luigi Capello, CEO of LVenture Group, ‘and through LoveItaly! we want to use it in protecting our precious cultural heritage.’ American Friends of LoveItaly! is also registered as a charity in the United States.
