First it was Pucci, now it is Ferragamo’s turn to ‘dress’ the Baptistery.

Florence’s foremost fashion house has donated 20,000 euro to restoration work on the city’s beloved monument, as stated by Opera del Duomo.

Inclusive of withholding tax and agency fees, a 14 x 9-metre claret-coloured panel publicizing the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum hangs on the side of the Baptistery in piazza Duomo opposite via dei Cerretani.

The overall cost of the renovation project is 1.8 million euro, about 170,000 of which will come from the Embrace the Baptistery crowdfunding campaign run by Unicoop Firenze (see theflr.net/embracethebaptistery). An additional 275,000 euro have been promised by the City of Florence; Florence mayor Dario Nardella wishes to make use of the funds deriving from the Renzi-Bondi agreement to divide Uffizi ticket revenue between Florence city council and the Italian ministry for cultural heritage.
