If you’re well done on the bistecca front and are in search of something lighter as the warmer weather arrives, Irene Firenze could be the answer you’re looking for.
Florence’s Hotel Savoy has revamped its restaurant with a feminine touch. The lady behind the concept is actual nobility: the mother of Sir Rocco Forte of the famous hotel chain, which owns the hotel in piazza della Repubblica. Stylish and contemporary, the retro-chic bar area is at the centre of it all with backlit abstract panels and video installations by local creative mind Felice Limosani.
What makes Irene special is the genuinely warm welcome provided by the international and eclectic team including charismatic chef Fulvio Pierangelini, with his revisited, healthy and deeply respectful interpretations of Tuscan classics: the exquisitely delicate lemon and parmesan stracciatella soup, spring embodied in the quinoa with cream of peas, and ambrosial zabaglione with Italian dessert wine and red fruits.
Spring has sprung on the Florentine restaurant front: andiamo da Irene?
