The long and anxiety-causing summer of 2002 seems like an eternity ago considering the comeback that Florence’s Fiorentina has made since then. On August 1, 2002, the team went bankrupt and was disbanded (if only for a few hours), marking its lowest point in its existence since 1926. With the help of current owner Diego della Valle (also the owner of TOD’S) and the City of Florence, the team was reinstated and began a tough climb back up from the nether ranks of the C1 Series Championships. In the past three years the team has managed to return again to the A Series Championships and, with latest acquisitions, will potentially be one of the stronger teams playing this upcoming season.
