Ciabattone/a: A person who has let themselves go; sloppy;
listless.

Example: Che ciabattone l’è i tù
fratello! (What a slob your
brother is!)

 

Muricciòlo: Low wall that can be sat on.

Example: Guarda i’ gatto come dorme sù i’
muriciòlo. (Look at that cat sleeping on the wall.)

 

Mortesecca: Skull.

Example: La bandiera dei pirati era la
mortesecca. (The pirates’ flag had the skull and bones on
it.)

 

Romaiolo/ramaiolo: Ladle.

Example: Passami i’ ramaiolo! S’attacca tutto i’ sugo! (Give me the ladle-the sauce is sticking to the
pot!)

Example: Dammi
ancora una romaiolata di ceci! (Give me another spoonful of ceci!)
