Art and folly,
psychoanalysis and creativity: an exhibition that tells the fascinating
relationship between artistic production and mental unease. This show, created
on an idea by Vittorio Sgarbi, represents the first attempt to investigate the
relationship between art and madness. Van Gogh, Kirchner, Munch, Ernst, Dix,
Grosz, Guttuso, Mafai and Ligabue are only some of the artists at the center of
the exhibition. Works include paintings and sculptures on loan from some of Europe’s most famous museums, including Musee d’Orsay al
Musée National d’Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, the Prado, Kirchner Museum, the National Gallery for Modern Art in Rome, the Brera and the Braidense National Library in
Milan.
