Every year on Easter Sunday, Florentines gather in Piazza del Duomo for the Scoppio del Carro to watch a dove-shaped rocket, called the Colombina, fly out of the famous Duomo. It then ignites a huge wooden cart structure in the square outside, making for a very loud fireworks display traditionally meant to secure a good harvest in the spring.
