Happy with the warm reception and the hospitality received in Lucca last summer, where the US track and field team prepared for the World Championships in Daegu, team officials have decided to train there for the Summer Olympic Games. Team USA is set to start training in Lucca in early July, before heading to London for the games, which run from July 27 to August 12.
Lucca councillor for sport, Lido Moschini, expressed his appreciation for the work of local track and field team Atletica Virtus Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, who assisted the Team USA during training. ‘It was possible,’ Moschini said, ‘thanks to the Moreno Martini sports complex, which is one of the best in Italy and where a new indoor gym will soon be opened.’
