The Uffizi welcomes a new exhibition this summer dedicated to the art of Piero di Cosimo.

The show, titled Piero di Cosimo: eccentric Florentine painter between the Renaissance and Mannerism, showcases 100 works and will run from June 23 to September 27.

Though less well-known than his Renaissance contemporaries, di Cosimo lived at the height of the Renaissance, painting alongside many of the greats, such as Michelangelo and Da Vinci.

The influence of these artists is evident in the works of di Cosimo. His style is often described as imaginative and inventive, borrowing a little from a variety of styles. His work is clearly from the Renaissance, with classical and religious symbolism, showcasing the tension of this new artistic period.
