The international nonprofit International Centro Studi G. Donati, headquartered in Pistoia, has announced that the 2016 recipient of its Giorgio La Pira Prize, awarded annually for dedication to peace and justice, promotion of culture, solidarity and the common good, is acclaimed composer, musician and conductor Ezio Bosso.
Bosso, who delighted the audience at this year’s San Remo Festival, has conducted the London Symphony Orchestra and composed the film scores for Io non ho paura (2004) and Il ragazzo invisibile (2015), both of which earned him David di Donatello nominations.
Association president Giancarlo Niccolai, who will present the prize to Bosso in Pistoia on November 6, noted that Bosso, who has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, was selected for the La Pira prize not only for his skill and international star power, but for the message of hope his work conveys.
