When the heat and humidity of summer in Florence become too much to bear, dive into one of the city’s pools. We recommend that you call the individual facilities for further information.

Le Pavoniere

Appearing like a mirage in the Cascine park, Le Pavoniere (via della Catena 2, +39 392 1724859) is one of Florence’s most attractive city pools. Adults and children can put their water wings to the test in this open-air urban aquatic centre. It’s open Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 11:30pm. Le Pavoniere also features a poolside cocktail bar, restaurant and pizzeria.

Paganelli

The Paganelli pool in the Novoli district of Florence (viale Guidoni 208 / +39 055 416330) has reopened for the summer after a three-year closure. Boasting a jungle vibe, it’s the only outdoor pool in one of the most populated parts of town. Open daily from 10am to 6pm until the end of September. There’s a surf-themed bar for refreshments.

Costoli

Located near the Campo di Marte stadium, Costoli (piazza Enrico Berlinguer 2 / +39 055 6236027) is the largest and, perhaps, most popular public swimming venue in town, with three pools, including an Olympic-sized pool, a medium-sized pool with a diving board, water slides and a paddling pool for kids. It’s open Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday + Sunday 10am-7pm; Monday 2-6pm.

Bellariva

Riverside pool Bellariva (lungarno Aldo Moro 6 / +39 055 6266007) is another renowned urban aquatic centre. It is open to the public daily from 10am to 6pm, and from 9.30am to 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The lush grounds are teeming with trees and the lawns provide superb sunbathing. With an abundance of lounge chairs poolside, a rooftop terrace restaurant that serves pizza and other fresh summer fare, it boasts an Olympic-size pool as well as a children’s pool area.

Flog

Flog, Florence’s first public swimming pool, is situated in the Poggetto area (via Michele Mercati 24 / +39 366 8769021). Usually reserved for members only, it is open to the public in the summer. Open 10am to 6pm from late May until August 31.

Klab Marignolle

A month’s swim-only subscription to Klab Marignolle (via Ferrone 5 / +39 055 291886) in the Florence hills rings well during a long, hot summer. It’s open Monday to Friday 7am-10:30pm, Saturday 8am-8pm and Sunday 9am-7pm.

Asmana Wellness World

Another year-round bathing favourite is Asmana (via Salvator Allende 10, Campi Bisenzio / +39 055 776771) out in Campi Bisenzio. Outdoor and indoor pools, saunas, relaxations, massages and facials: there’s something for everyone to help you through the summer.
