Embrace the wonder of the season with festive family frolics as we put together our pick of fun-for-everyone seasonal scenarios this Christmas.

Spot the Christmas lights

A stroll through the centre to see the spectacular displays is bound to evoke awe in little ones (and not only). A peaceful passeggiata to enjoy the lights at leisure is a memorable experience for all, with a cup of hot chocolate toasting your hands as Christmas carols trickle out from nearby stores.

Local libraries

Nestle into the local libraries to keep your tots both cozy and entertained. The public reading spaces always offer an ample events calendar over the school holidays, with a range of readings, book suggestions and winter workshops ensuring a pleasant afternoon well spent.

See Santa

The jolly man himself makes a few visits around town, and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to catch him for a quick hello! Dreoni Toystore on via Cavour is one of his favorite hangout spots (understandably!), but you may also see the main man in action at the Christmas market in piazza Santa Croce.

Theatre trips

Teatro Verdi has programmed kid-friendly performances of Peter and the Wolf and Pinocchio, meaning any excited shrieks or enthusiastic guffaws won’t be punished by more serious theatre goers. Equally, keep an eye on Teatro Puccini for their festive family line-up, with plenty of puppetry popping up along the way. Maggio Musicale Fiorentino also makes us merry with their seasonal concerts, with Mozart’s The Magic Flute from December 13 to 16 bound to prove popular.

Get your skates on

Pop on a pair of skates (or push a penguin if you feel a bit wobbly!) at Il Palaghiaccio Giglio Bianco until February 25 or the Florence on Ice Village in piazzale Vittorio Veneto until January 15.
