If you’re looking for a sweet treat in the middle of your Christmas shopping in Florence, the recently opened Minuto Bauli coffee shop and bakery along via del Corso fits the bill.

The Bauli Minuto concept is an interesting strategic move by the company that started out life as a family firm helmed by Ruggero Bauli in 1922. Having grown into an industrialized business over the years, today Bauli is synonymous with the quintessential Italian Christmas cake as well as croissants, cookies and more.

Emblazoned with the familiar Bauli logo outside, the intoxicating aromas of flour, sugar, eggs, butter, milk and yeast immediately fill the air the moment you step inside the compact city centre space. Not just a shop selling limited-edition pandori by the Verona-based market leader, here miniature rolls, known as a Minuto, made from the same winning dough are leavened for 12 hours on-site before being baked in an attractive Polin oven specifically manufactured for the brand.

The innovative concept is simple: choose from six gluttonous fillings—pistachio, hazelnut, pastry cream, jam, zabaglione or dark chocolate—add a tea or coffee, and unwind from the stress of the season at one of the tables.

While December is an obvious time of the year to indulge in a Bauli Minuto, what’s more exciting is the possibility to savour a taste of Christmas all year round.

Other Bauli Minuto stores have also opened in Verona, Milan, Turin, Bologna and Vienna (Austria), as well as in nearby shopping malls.
