Start the new year with practical steps towards holistic wellbeing by attending a comprehensive herbal medicine course organized by Borgo Santo Pietro in partnership with world-renowned herbalist Anne McIntyre.

Mastering Herbal Medicine consists of a combination of online lessons designed to provide comprehensive theoretical knowledge, coupled with two practical three-day workshops at Borgo Santo Pietro in southern Tuscany. Anne McIntyre shares her 40-plus years of knowledge as a Medical Herbalist and Ayurvedic practitioner as well as guiding participants through the distillation, maceration, oxymel creation and ointment crafting in the estate’s herb house during the in-person workshops. The unique blend of essential knowledge and practical herbal skills will empower attendees to confidently integrate herbs into their daily lives, maximizing health and wellbeing.

The one-year course is designed for anyone who would like to learn about herbs for self-care as well as healthcare professionals whose primary system of care is another therapy, such as naturopaths, homoeopaths, acupuncturists, osteopaths, chiropractors, nurses, health visitors, doctors and nutritionists.

The online modules and in-person workshops are designed to be studied in sequence and new online material will be made available to students at the beginning of each month, starting in February 2024 and finishing in September 2024. The online lessons will cover topics including global herbal traditions, the active constituents of herbs and their tastes, the systems of the body, treating common ailments, the still room, practical exercises and recipes. The practical workshops at Borgo Santo Pietro will take place from May 31 to June 2 and September 27 to 29.

The Mastering Herbal Medicine course will provide you with the confidence and competence to treat common ailments safely and effectively at home. You will gain detailed knowledge of herbal medicine, how and why it works, and you will have suggestions for the herbal treatment of a wide range of common ailments.

The total cost is 1,995 euro, which includes the online course, two workshops with supporting materials, breakfast, refreshments and lunch. Dinner, accommodation and flights are not included, although transportation can be arranged in advance at an extra cost.
