Finding out what’s screening in local cinemas has just become a lot easier. Che c’è, literally meaning “what’s on”, brings together the full weekly programming of Florence’s cinemas on a single, easy-to-read webpage.

Julia Rudas Che c'è

The platform was created by Julia Rudas, a 30-year-old Hungarian with a background in film production who moved to Florence for love and found herself navigating the city’s film scene with growing frustration. Despite the number of cinemas in town, she found it surprisingly difficult to get a clear overview of what was showing.

“The project,” she says, “came from a very simple personal experience. Despite the presence of so many cinemas, it wasn’t easy to get a clear and comprehensive overview of what was playing during the week, especially when looking for screenings in the original language, and organizing movie nights with friends sometimes seemed more complicated than expected. I thought how nice it would be to have a single page where I could see everything clearly and focus only on choosing what I was interested in watching. I had the time and energy and a friend who helped me with the programming in Budapest, so I thought: Why not?”

The result is a minimalist, ad-free site that opens with a simple prompt: “So, shall we go see a movie?” Below, users can scroll through all films currently screening in Florence, complete with weekly showtimes.
