A four-hour strike is set to disrupt Florence’s urban bus network on Monday, July 20, with evening services likely to face delays and cancellations.
Autolinee Toscane has warned that buses operating within the city may be affected between 7 and 11pm due to two company-level strikes called by the RSA FAISA CISAL unions. During those hours, service will not be guaranteed.
The industrial action involves both drivers and administrative staff, including ticket office employees, meaning ticket counters may also operate with reduced staffing depending on strike participation.
The unions say the strike has been called over a series of unresolved workplace issues, including worsening working conditions, chronic staff shortages, workplace safety, scheduling concerns, and the handling of staffing and operational management. They have also raised concerns about disruptions caused by roadworks, night services and the launch of operations at the XI Agosto depot.
The level of disruption will depend on employee participation. The last four-hour strike involving RSA FAISA CISAL in Florence’s urban bus network, held in November 2023, recorded a participation rate of 28.83 per cent.
