Applications are now open for Italy’s Bonus Mamme for 2026, a financial benefit offering eligible working mothers an additional 60 euro for each month, or part of a month, in which they are employed or self-employed during the year. The allowance covers a maximum of 12 months, bringing the total benefit to €720.

The scheme is administered by the National Social Security Institute (INPS), which has made the application service available through its official website, www.inps.it. Applicants must log in using their digital identity credentials and access the Punto d’accesso alle prestazioni non pensionistiche (Access Point for Non-Pension Benefits) to complete the application.

Applications can also be submitted through the INPS Multichannel Contact Centre by calling the toll-free number 803 164 from a landline or 06 164 164 from a mobile phone, with the latter call subject to charges.

The standard deadline for applications is December 31, 2026. Mothers who meet the eligibility requirements for the first time in December may submit their application by January 31, 2027.

The allowance is paid as a lump sum rather than in monthly instalments. Where applications have been processed in time, the amount due for the period from January to December 2026 will be paid in December, alongside the benefit for that month. Applications are assessed in the order in which they are received. If processing is not completed in time for the December payment, the amount due will be paid from January 2027 once the assessment has been finalized.

The benefit is subject to specific eligibility criteria and is not available to all working mothers. Women with two children qualify only if their youngest child is under the age of 10. For mothers with three or more children, the youngest must be under 18.

Applicants must also have an annual income from employment or self-employment of no more than €40,000.
