Dear readers,

It’s that time of the year when Florence gets all dolled up in her elegant lights, when we fret about meeting the last international delivery date and our mouths dribble at the thought of tortellini in salty brodo. December is also when The Florentine extends its boundaries, bringing you The Tuscan Times, edited by TF’s events and associate editor, Mary Gray.

This has been an extraordinary year for Florence, from the 150th anniversary of Florence as the capital of Italy to Pope Francis’s visit; a multitude of Florence-focused exhibitions in New York and now in Washington, DC; Expo 2015 related events; the restoration, renovation and reopening of museums and monuments in piazza Duomo; and The Florentine’s 10-year anniversary. (We had to sneak that milestone discreetly in there.)

To spread some holiday cheer, we bring you the best wine pairings for your turkey or tortellini, a festive playlist from music editor Michelle Davis and a guide to the city’s seasonal pop-up shops. There’s a surprise in store as we take you on a stroll down Florence’s least-known street, via Federighi, and emotion aplenty in our latest Mud Angel interview.

We’re already thinking up some treats for 2016, thanks to your ideas and input. Ours is an open inbox, so please drop us a line with thoughts and feedback for articles and events at redazione@theflorentine.net.

Auguri!
