Artour Italia (www.artouritalia.it) is a new online guide to the artisans behind some of Italy’s most carefully crafted handmade goods, their creative processes, techniques, materials and distinctive styles. The website is currently only available in English.

Offering a variety of ‘Made in Italy’-themed itineraries, the site, created by Artex, Centre for Artistic and Traditional Handicrafts of Tuscany, provides off-the-beaten-path routes for those seeking to explore Italy at its most authentic and traditional.

Like an online storefront display, Artour Italia spotlights specific products and neighborhoods. Visitors to the website can browse more than 130 detailed itineraries and search for specific artisans, products or particular workshops and venues by region, province or artistic sector.

Artour Italia offers more than 30 suggested itineraries for Tuscany, taking visitors to glass shops in Colle Val d’Elsa and fashion boutiques in Prato.

The site includes practical information, including maps, descriptions of individual neighborhoods, up-to-date listings of Made in Italy–related events, markets and exhibitions, and even historical information. An accompanying blog covers industry news and artisans of interest.
