Firenze Film is sponsoring the first edition of the Arno Stream Fest, a short film competition organized in collaboration with the Tuscany Film Commission, the Comune of Signa, Coop and the Alimondo Ciampi Foundation. Participation in the festival will be open to Italian and foreign directors and filmmakers, schools and associations. The objective of the Arno Stream Fest is to promote short films as a particularly creative form of expression, spotlighting major talents in the genre.

Recognizing that many of the young and aspiring artists entering the competition work with limited resources and budgets, the festival’s grand prize will be split in two categories: ‘Best Short Film’ and ‘Best Idea.’ Winners will receive a cash prize of 500 euro. In particularly noteworthy news for festival hopefuls, the Alimondo Ciampi foundation offers project-specific scholarships principally for young Italian and American artists. More information on available funding can be found at fondazioneciampi.org.

Films must either be in Italian or have Italian subtitles, and can be no longer than 20 minutes, including the title and credit sequences. Individual contestants are allowed to submit up to three films, while schools and institutes can enter more. Films that have been shown or recognized in previous festivals are also welcome, though they must have been produced in 2008 or later.

Registration for the event will close on April 19, and the finalist screenings and awards ceremony will be held on May 17 at Signa’s Salablù (Via degli Alberti 11). The evening will be open to the public with free admission. Interested candidates can visit firenzefilm.it for further festival regulations and registration details.
