One of Italy’s most acclaimed chefs has partnered with McDonald’s Italy to create two ‘gourmet’ burgers and a classic Italian dessert for the fast-food chain. ‘I simply asked what and where young people were going to eat,’ said Gualtiero Marchesi, master chef from Milan, who has won three Michelin stars, ‘They were very simple questions which led to my decision to team up with McDonald’s.’ 

 

The two burgers and dessert will be available in all McDonald’s outlets in Italy until November 15. Made with 100 percent beef, the Vivace burger, on a bacon-seasoned bread bun, is topped with strips of bacon, salted spinach, marinated onions and mayonnaise with mustard seeds; the Adagio burger, topped with sweet-and-sour eggplant strips, sliced tomatoes and salted ricotta, is on a bun covered in sliced almonds. Both burgers cost 4.70 euro.

 

The dessert, Tiramisu alla Milanese, is a combination of Italian panettone with coffee-flavoured cream, mascarpone and candied almonds. It costs 2.50 euro.

 

The 419 McDonald’s in Italy serve 700,000 customers every day.
