1) Slow Prato – It’s Monday morning, and in many cities across Tuscany, the museums are closed. A classic tour dedicated to the historic centre (and to the biscuits of Prato) is a great choice to start the week well. With an expert tour guide, we will visit the Museum of Prato Cathedral, which houses the original pulpit made by Donatello. We will then go to the Piazza del Comune, and visit Palazzo Pretorio, where we will find numerous masterpieces. The tour ends with a biscuit tasting.
2) Industrial Heritage – In the afternoon, we will start in the historic centre and cycle along the banks of the Bisenzio river, to visit the ancient Cavalciotto dam. The dam has existed since the Medieval era, and permitted the creation of a canal network, along which the first textile mills and factories were built.
Finally, we will visit the Textile Museum, located on a site of industrial archaeology, and see the exhibition dedicated to Walter Albini.
