GUIDED TOUR/VISIT/ Crazy for Pazzi tour

November 26, 6.15–7.15pm, 15 min slots. Pazzi Chapel, Santa Croce, Florence

 

Who were the Pazzi family and why is their chapel special? When the bells toll 6pm and the church doors close, we’ll learn about the history of this architectural landmark and about the restoration scheduled for its loggia, for which Santa Croce is running a Kickstarter campaign.

15-minute slots at 6.15, 6.30, 6.45, 7 and 7.15pm, alternating English and Italian. The event is completely free, but space is limited. Sign up required at santacroce-nov26.eventbrite.it

 

 

CONCERT/PARTY/MUSIC/ Balkan Party

November 21, 9.30pm. Flog Auditorium, via Michele Mercati 24b, Florence

 

Organised by Oxfam Italia, the closing event of the Balkan film festival takes place in Flog with an evening of Balkan musical fun. The main act, Divanhana, perform pieces which combine traditional Bosnian music with undertones of soul. The group come from Sarajevo and have performed worldwide. Alongside Divanhana, the Baro Drom Orkestar will also take to the stage, with a vast mix of styles, which they describe as ‘GipsyKlezmer&BalkanTarantelle’. MARKET CHARITY/ Christmas is coming!

The Italian Red Cross are organising a three-day Christmas market in Florence. Not only is it a great opportunity to get ahead with your Christmas shopping, but the proceeds go towards this worthy cause. From decorations for the house and tree to wonderful gift ideas and an array of tasty Christmas treats, don’t miss out on this market to fill you with festive cheer. CINEMA/ Films galore!

November 21–27. Odeon Cinema, piazza Strozzi, Florence

 

It’s the turn of LGBTIQ cinema to stand in the spotlight with the Florence Queer Festival. In collaboration with the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights Europe, documentaries and other films focused on the issue of human rights are shown. Special guest Eytan Fox, director of the acclaimed Yossi and Jagger will be on hand when his most recent film, Cupcakes, is screened. www.florencequeerfestival.it

 

ACTIVITY/CREATIVE/ Pop up Florence!

Pop Up Florence is back. This special occasion is aimed at designers, as well as at the public who are welcomed to discover them. International designers are showcased, this time round featuring designers from Florence and Milan. With hand-crafted jewellery, clothing, items for the house, bags and more, you’re sure to fall in love with many of the custom pieces on display in the greenhouse.
