One of Florence’s best-loved athletes, Leonard Bundu, is prepping for his November 4 match at the Nelson Mandela Forum, when he will face Rome’s Daniele Petrucci for the European Boxing Union’s Welterweight title.

The two boxers already battled it out for the title at Rome’s Foro Italico last June, but the match ended in a draw when Bundu suffered an injury and the judges called for a re-match.

‘It was destiny that the final match for the title be played in Florence. We tried without success last time to have the match here; we all know how things went [in Rome], and now I hope that the Mandela Forum will packed to the brim with spectators next November 4. Then if Bundu wins, a huge party will follow,’ said local superintendent of sport and vice-mayor, Dario Nardella.

Tickets are on sale now at Box Office (www.boxol.it) and TicketOne (www.ticketone.it) outlets.
