For the past
eight years, Florence has been home to the world’s first festival completely
devoted to Indian cinema outside of India. This year’s festival will feature a
retrospective on Raj Kapoor (1924-1988), a director from great family of filmmakers
who lived in the golden age of Indian cinema. Kapoor, considered the Charlie
Chaplin of India, was a cinematic triple threat. Three of his 50s Bollywood
masterpieces, Awara (‘The Tramp’), Shree 420, and Bobby will be screened along with shorts, feature films and documentaries. Actors,
directors and producers will be present to introduce their films and meet the
audience and press. All films are subtitled in both English and Italian. Do not
miss the Indian music and food tastings offered between films.
