What makes a rock star? Anyone
who demonstrates ‘an imitable lifestyle’ says Carlo Antonelli, editor of Rolling
Stone Italy. The Italian edition of the famous American magazine recently crowned
Silvio Berlusconi Italy’s ‘Rock Star of the Year.’
With a
cover was designed by American illustrator Shepard Fairey, who designed the
‘Hope’ posters for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, the December 2009
edition announces, ‘His lust for life and his inimitable lifestyle have earned
him an incredible international popularity, especially this year.’
The 73-year-old got the Rolling
Stone Italy staff’s unanimous vote following a summer of scandals over revelations
about his private life.
Choosing the Italian premier
over runners-up Barak Obama and Pope Benedict XVI, the staff cited his ability
to ‘live in the limelight’ with feats ‘worthy of the best rock stars … Rod
Stewart, Brian Jones, Keith Richards in their prime were schoolboys compared to
him.’
