With
the Basilica of San Francesco’s newly opened permanent interactive exhibition
space, Frame Mediateca, visitors to Assisi can experience the treasures of the
historic church and the life of its namesake saint in new ways.

Watching
a 3D film on the life of St. Francis in any of 12 languages; examining more than
1,000 ancient documents, bibles and manuscripts on touch screens; viewing the
details of the 300-some frescoes in the Basilica of San Francesco, including
those by Giotto: these are just some of the activities that visitors can enjoy
in the Frame Mediateca’s three multimedia rooms.

The
unique exhibit makes accessible images of items from the basilica’s extensive
collection, which have been digitized and converted into high-definition
electronic format. A treasure trove for scholars, pilgrims and art lovers, the
Frame Mediateca also offers a virtual tour of the Sacred Convent of Assisi and
documentaries that chronicle life in the Franciscan order.
