IN FLORENCE To celebrate New Year’s Eve 2013 in Florence, five squares will be holding five free concerts ranging in genre.   In piazza della Stazione, if pop’s your thing, Max Pezzali will be performing, accompanied by other Florentine bands and artists throughout the night.

IN FLORENCE

To celebrate New Year’s Eve 2013 in Florence, five squares will be holding five free concerts ranging in genre.

 

In piazza della Stazione, if pop’s your thing, Max Pezzali will be performing, accompanied by other Florentine bands and artists throughout the night. In piazza della Repubblica enjoy the swing and jazz concert; in piazza Santissima Annunziata there’s a gospel concert; in piazza della Signoria the traditional classical music concert with the Ukrainian Lugansk Orchestra, conducted by maestro Giuseppe Lanzetta; while dance music and DJ sets will take over piazza Annigoni.

 

 

The sound of Berlin comes to Florence’s Obihall with three top DJs on the electronic music scene: Chris Liebnig, Rebekah and Paul Ritch. The group Deb Sones will represent Tuscany (tickets cost 50 euro; for info: www.atomicevents.it).

 

At Tenax, Florence’s long-standing club, Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann take their turns on the decks, straight from two of the hottest clubs in Berlin, Berghain and Panorama Bar. (For info: www.tenax.org).

 

New Year’s Eve at Tender Club is all about 50s and 60s revival with R&B, Northern soul, ska and rock-steady, featuring special guest German DJ Gerd Baum with Alberto Valle, Barbara Grassi, Sara Ramos and Taffy & Andy. (Tickets cost 15 euro; for info: www.tenderclub.it)

Enjoy New Year’s Eve at Florence’s Teatro Cantiere Florida with Una notte con gli Avengers!,a show starring Giulia Aiazzi, Riccardo Goretti, Ciro Masella and Pasquale Scalzi. Spend the last night of the year in the company of your favourite superheroes: Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and Thor. Bingo, DJ set, drinks and lots more! IN TUSCANY

At Teatro Dante in Campi Bisenzio, pop along to the Rocky Horror Live Concert Show, with drinks and a festive atmosphere. Theatre company MagnoProg will perform a song version in Italian. For info: www.teatrodante.it.

 

Now a yearly occurrence, head out of the city to enjoy the traditional Medieval New Year’s event Antico Spedale del Bigallo, in Bagno a Ripoli. Madonnas, masters, jesters and dancers liven up the evening from 8pm to the early hours with an aperitivo and a dinner with show, medieval dancing and a buffet of medieval desserts. Siena offers a New Year’s to the tune of jazz. From 7pm to 3am, the streets and squares of the city centre will come to lift with concerts and jamming sessions organized by Fondazione Siena Jazz; all free.
