The new design logo for Florence has been unveiled.
From the 5,000 entries, the winner was announced as Fabio Chiantini, a Florentine graphic designer. His square graphic uses the colours red, black and white, reminiscent of Tuscany and consists of the name of the city written in five different languages; Latin, English, French, German and Spanish, encapsulating old and new; the history of the Roman city with the modern-day international atmosphere that now prevails. Letters spelling out FIRENZE are marked in bold.
Chiantini wins 15,000 euro for his design, which will now become the official logo of the Renaissance city.
