From September 11 to 18, Florence will host an international exhibition of independent design.
Source Self-Made Design, at Limonaia di Villa Strozzi, will welcome more than 50 maker-designers from Italy and abroad. The DIY items on display come from the United States, Greece, Canada, Finland and Iran.
Along with attending exhibits, workshops, conversations and seminars, participants can meet and chat with makers working in electronics, wood, metal and even 3D printing, as well as designers, craftspeople, traders and company representatives. The event also features numerous ancillary activities, such as concerts featuring the Alessandro Galati Trio, photography workshops and seminars on design, crowdfunding, self-production and future production scenarios.
Source Self-Made Design provides a creative space for young people in Florence who can use the fair to market their work and offers them the opportunity to reach a wider public. Now in its second consecutive year, the event is organized by the Florentine association Altrove, which was founded in 2013 to promote cultural activities in the fields of design and architecture and to support creativity in general, alongside the social relations that can come of them.
