The current exhibition at the Italian Embassy in Washington, DC, brings contemporary views of Florence stateside as photographer Jon Guido Bertelli takes visitors on a black-and-white tour of iconic highlights linked to the city’s time as the Italian capital, 150 years ago.

The embassy, along with the Italian Cultural Institute, is hosting the exhibition to mark the 150th anniversary of Florence’s stint as the capital.

The exhibition, which runs until January 8, is open weekdays from 10am to noon, and 2 to 4pm. It can be viewed by appointment only, however: e-mail iicwashington@esteri.it. For more information, see www.iicwashington.esteri.it.

The Florentine thanks Jon Guido Bertelli and the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC, for granting permission to use one of the photographs in the exhibition on the December cover of the magazine.
