Creative writing workshop in the autumn

From October 24 to 27, the Decameron writing workshop designed in partnership with the Molly Bloom Creative Writing Academy and historic Florentine penmanship brand Pineider will provide a small group of participants with a chance to devote themselves to writing in a setting of extraordinary beauty and tranquillity.

Inspired by the spirit of Boccaccio’s masterpiece, guests will gather at Villa La Massa for three days to tell stories, listen, write, revise and share them. The workshop will be led by Leonardo Colombati, writer, publisher and dean of the Molly Bloom Academy, and Letizia Carbutto, head of the academy’s master programme. Together they will guide participants through a programme that combines oral storytelling, writing, editing and final drafting, all with a custom writing kit by Pineider. During dinner on the Friday, participants will share their stories, starting a group narrative experience. Saturday is dedicated to writing as the day begins with storytelling guidelines introduced by the two instructors, followed by individual writing sessions interspersed with group discussions and moments of relaxation. In this intimate setting, each participant will develop their own story, putting what they have learned into practice. After receiving revision tips from the instructors, each text will be printed and corrected by hand on the Sunday, a pen-on-paper phase designed to encourage deeper, more mindful reading. Afterward, stories will be read aloud in the group, offering a chance for constructive feedback. Monday morning marks the end of the experience, although not the project itself as the final texts will be compiled into a booklet, later mailed to each author as a lasting memento.

Decameron is not just a writing workshop—it’s an opportunity to pause, reflect and write with intention in the enchanting setting of Villa La Massa.

Packages start at €2,865 for one person and €3,360 for two people, including three nights at Villa La Massa, all meals and workshop activities.
