The strike has been called by several grassroots labour organizations, including the Confederazione Unitaria di Base (CUB), ADL Varese, SGB, SI Cobas, USI-CIT and USI 1912. In the public transport sector, the action has been joined by CUB Trasporti.

The disruption will affect bus services throughout Tuscany. However, minimum guaranteed services will operate during two protected time slots: from 4.15 to 8.14am, and again from 12.30 to 2.29pm.

The strike involves not only drivers and operational staff but also administrative employees, including ticket office personnel. Office and maintenance staff are expected to stop work for their entire scheduled shift.

Bus operations outside the guaranteed service windows as well as staffing at ticket counters will depend on the level of participation in the strike. During the previous 24-hour strike on November 28, 2025, participation reached 21.74 per cent.

According to organizers, the strike has been called in protest against war and increased military spending, labour exploitation, job insecurity, stagnant wages and workplace fatalities. The unions also cited opposition to what they describe as the “genocide in Palestine,” the absence of effective social and industrial policies, and the Italian government’s recent security decrees, which they argue are repressive.

Passengers seeking updates are encouraged to consult the official Autolinee Toscane websiteor the AT Bus mobile app. Information is also available via the company’s toll-free customer service number, 800 14 24 24, active daily from 6am to midnight. Travellers can additionally follow service updates on the company’s social media channels, including X (@AT_Informa) and Facebook.
