Modern luxury lifestyle destination W Florence debuts a collaboration with Florence-based designer Domenico Orefice, marking his first partnership in hospitality and introducing a custom leather bag created exclusively for overnight guests. Rooted in the city’s legacy of leatherwork and reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, the project reflects a shared commitment to design, creativity and cultural storytelling.

Available exclusively as part of the Crafted in Florence Suite Experience, guests who book the package are welcomed with the handcrafted bag awaiting them in their suite on arrival, along with a 100 euro dining credit to be enjoyed across the hotel’s culinary venues including signature Japanese-Korean restaurant Akira Back and the newly-debuted aperitivo destination, Zefiro Rooftop.
The package also includes the signature “Lure” cocktail, a leather-inspired twist on the classic Negroni created especially for the collaboration. Initially served at Zefiro Rooftop for the summer season before moving to W Lounge in the autumn, the cocktail was inspired by the tactile experience of leather and the smooth, luxurious feeling it evokes when touched. Combining rye whisky, vermouth, coffee liqueur, cedarwood and the hotel’s signature amaro blend, the drink delivers a warm, woody and enveloping flavour profile. While included as part of the Crafted in Florence Suite Experience, “Lure” will also be available for guests to order à la carte beginning June 16.
“Florence has always been defined by craftsmanship, but what’s exciting today is the new wave of creatives reinterpreting its artisanal traditions,” said Doris Hecht, general manager of W Florence. “Partnering with Domenico Orefice allows us to further celebrate that evolution through a tangible expression of the city’s cultural identity.”

Created in collaboration with Domenico Orefice, the bag is designed as a versatile, unisex travel companion. Trained in Florence with a focus on leather design, Orefice brings a balance of technical precision and contemporary sensibility, resulting in a piece that feels both refined and suited to the lifestyle of a modern traveller.
“Florence is evolving in a really exciting way, with a new generation of designers rethinking what craftsmanship looks like today,” said Domenico Orefice. “This piece is my interpretation of that shift, rooted in tradition but designed for a more contemporary lifestyle, which is why W Florence felt like a natural partner.”
Crafted from soft, naturally tanned leather, the piece highlights the authenticity of the material through the visible grain and rich texture. Designed to feel both expressive and functional, the leather evolves with use, becoming more personal over time. The braided handle, produced using traditional Florentine intrecciato techniques, requires over 15 hours of meticulous handwork, underscoring the detail behind each piece.
The bag features interior compartments for organization, along with adjustable straps and a removable fringe that allow it to be worn in multiple ways, including as a crossbody, and transition easily from day to evening. It is available in three colours to suit every type of traveller: black for a timeless, versatile look; terracotta, inspired by the tones of Florence’s iconic rooftops; and beige, representing the lighter, brighter side of the city.
Together with the hotel’s evolving creative programming, this collaboration reinforces W Florence’s role within the city, offering 119 rooms and suites in a restored landmark just moments from Florence’s most iconic sites. Centrally located, the property delivers a stay that feels both elevated and deeply connected to its surroundings.
