60 million euro a year in sales, books on cuisine and culinary culture
represent one of the biggest and fastest-growing markets in Italian publishing.
One of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious publishing houses, Florence-based
Giunti, recently announced its entrance into this market sector by purchasing a
20-percent stake in Slow Food Editore, the official publisher of the Slow Food
association. With the goal of promoting local culinary culture and tradition,
Giunti’s vast distribution and sales network, which boasts 150 stores
throughout Italy, will manage all titles published by Slow Food. Part of the
deal also involves the launch of a new series on Italy’s eno-gastronomical
culture and heritage.
