Florence celebrates its “New Year” with parades, a flag throwing celebration and a market. At 3pm, a procession departs from the Palagio di Parte Guelfa to pay homage to the holy image of the Annunciation, where religious authorities will celebrate mass. The procession arrives in Piazza della Signoria at 5pm for flag throwing by the Sbandieratori degli Uffizi and other historical re-enactments. Piazza Santissima Annunziata hosts a market all day.
