Last Sunday’s match between Parma and Bologna ended in a 2-0 victory for Parma. This match was to decide which of the two teams playing would take the last open spot in next year’s A Series League.

Parma celebrated victory while Bologna mourned its return to the B Series after 9 years in the A Series. Some Bologna supporters could not quite accept defeat, and while Parma players were still on the field enjoying their victory, a rowdy group of Bologna fans knocked down the protective glass wall that separated them from the field and met riot police in a head-on confrontation. Stadium seats were dislodged and used as weapons against authorities, who used tear gas to keep the growing trouble under control. The effects of the gas were felt throughout the stadium, but no one complained of any serious injuries.
