Tuscany’s thirst for gin continues with the latest bottle to hit the shelves: Floressence.
Inspired by Caterina de’ Medici’s passion for perfume, Floressence is a dry gin that brims with unforgettable notes of bergamot, jasmine, lavender, orange flowers and juniper berries.
The man behind the botanical blend is Oscar Quagliarini. He’s worked as a bartender and perfumer since 1997, hopping from country to country (Benin, France, Mexico, Russia, Singapore) on a quest to seek out the world’s most intriguing ingredients. Now, the respected barman has basically distilled scent in a well-balanced bottle of gin, which is delicious served solo or employed in mixology, perhaps to add personality to a Negroni or a gin and tonic.
“It all started as a challenge: to create and transform a perfume into gin,” explains Quagliarini. “That’s how the exclusive recipe for Floressence was born, a dry, pleasant and balanced gin, with a distinctive floral scent. At first, the project was just a job for me, which later evolved into a friendly relationship with all four partners of Just Spirits, who brought this idea to life.”
Floressence was presented at Taste 2022 in Florence and will be distributed from June 2022.
