SYNLAB, the European leader in medical lab tests, has laid the cornerstones of its future medical centre at Florence’s Manifattura Tabacchi.

Expected to create about 80 jobs and offering a vast range of medical tests for up to 200,000 patients a year, SYNLAB has stated that it will be investing eight million euro in innovative equipment to optimize workflow and enable quick, accurate results.

“As well as being a milestone for regional healthcare in Italy, creating this Medical Center marks a crucial step for the entire SYNLAB group,” remarks Mathieu Floreani, CEO of the SYNLAB Group. “With this new center, we are reinforcing our regional presence and pursuing our mission, which is to provide diagnostic information useful for a healthy life and the wellbeing of our patients, especially in terms of prevention.”

Services on offer when the medical center opens include blood and lab tests (as well as genetic and cancer testing), in addition to 40-plus clinics for in-depth medical checks, ultrasounds, endoscopies and colonoscopies. An entire floor will be devoted to MRIs, CAT scans and mammograms and women’s health will be front and centre with events and meetings highlighting prevention.

Extending across more than 10,000 square metres, the SYNLAB Medical Center will occupy four floors of Manifattura Tabacchi’s newest building called Bulk, which will be designed by award-winning architectural studio Piuarch.
